Part 2 / Avoiding It Is No Longer an Option

So… after going through dozens of articles, it turned out to be exactly what I was afraid of and trying to avoid — I have to go to the gym!

Why does that feel a bit sad? Because I’ve always found it kind of boring. I’m not even sure why — maybe it’s because not much seems to be happening there? I don’t like spending time in one place, and at the gym it’s hard to change the scenery. And going there 3–4 times a week? Sounds boring, right?

But now it doesn’t really matter. This isn’t about liking or not liking something. It’s about health and self-development. And if the gym can help me with that, I’m ready to push through it.

I’ve been to the gym before, but my goal back then was completely different. In that area, I was also self-taught. This time, I decided to approach it differently.

This training has to be different from a regular gym workout. It needs to be specifically tailored for cycling. But does something like that even exist? What’s the best way to find out? Research, of course.

As it turns out, it’s actually very popular — and even essential for riders over 40. Unfortunately, I don’t have any friends who could guide me and explain everything, so I decided to ask a professional. I found an online coach who, luckily for me, runs sessions not far from where I live, and I signed up for training sessions. (Since we didn’t agree that I’d write about him, I won’t share any personal details or company name.)

How’s it going?

I’ll share that in the next posts.
